Argument Leads to Shooting in Oak Park - in spite of the handgun ban

As the Wednesday Journal reports, a 39 year old man was shot in the pelvis after an argument with his step-son. The shooting took place on the 600 block of Lake Street, in Oak Park, IL. The victim was transported to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, IL and underwent exploratory surgery to ascertain the extent of his injury. Israeli Citizen With Concealed Carry Stops Terrorist

As CNN reports, a Palestinian man went on a rampage Tuesday in downtown Jerusalem, ramming a construction vehicle into cars and buses before he was shot and killed by a law abiding Israeli citizen and his firearm. Mother and Baby Seriously Injured During Oak Park, IL Home Invasion

As the Wednesday Journal reports, on Monday morning, an Oak Park woman was preparing to take her baby to the doctor when a masked intruder burst into her apartment. The home invader then began beating the Oak Park woman with a baseball bat. During the beating, the woman dropped her 6-week-old baby. As the man continued to beat the woman about her upper body, a witness ran outside and waved down a passing police officer. The mother and infant were taken to Loyola Medical Center in Maywood, IL for treatment of fractures and lacerations. The Wednesday Journal also reports that Oak Park police have a suspect, Anthony K. High School Students Bring Machine Gun and Ammunition to California School

As the Mercury News reports, two male high school students at Pinole Valley High were arrested on suspicion of possession of an illegal “assault weapon“, possession of a machine gun, bringing a firearm onto school grounds, being a minor in possession of live ammunition, being a minor with a concealed weapon, being a minor in possession of a firearm with prior conviction, a probation violation and marijuana transportation. Both of the arrested students have previous gun and ammunition possession arrests or convictions on their records, police said. Survey Shows Gun Ownership in Alabama is High - and corresponds with low crime rates

As WRCB reports, a new survey shows that approximately two thirds of Alabama residents own a gun, and about half of them have permits to carry concealed weapons. This is one of the highest gun ownership and concealed carry permit rates in the country, and corresponds with a relatively low crime rate - considerably lower than localities such as Chicago which have handgun bans. Woman shot by muggers in Chicago’s West Loop - despite the handgun ban

As the Sun Times reports, a woman was shot in the leg after she struggled with two male attackers who stole her property in the West Loop, near the intersection of Randolph St and Halsted St early Friday. Congress May Act to Enforce the D.C. v. Heller Gun Rights

Following the Supreme Court’s ruling that handgun ownership is an individual right, city officials in Washington, D.C. have been planning to obstruct D.C. citizens from exercising their right to keep and bear arms, despite the Supreme Court’s clear statements. L.A. Cop Shot By His 3 Year Old Son - Then Sues Glock

As Mercury News reports, Enrique Chavez of Anaheim, CA was a Los Angeles police officer, until he left his loaded gun on the back seat of his pickup truck while driving with his 3 year old son. The young child picked up the gun and pulled the trigger, shooting Chavez in the back and leaving him paralyzed. Enrique Chavez then sued Glock, the holster manufacturer, and the retailer, alleging that their products were defective . French Marines Unintentionally Shoot Children During Demonstration

As the Telegraph reports, seventeen people have been injured, including a child left in a critical condition, after French soldiers fired live bullets instead of blanks during an open day display. No explanation was immediately forthcoming for why the wrong ammunition was loaded into weapons. Chicago’s Handgun Ban Challenged In Court

Within hours of the Supreme Court declaring that handgun ownership is a basic right, the city of Chicago was sued over their handgun ban. I’ve previously discussed why such handgun bans won’t work, and how criminals will just ignore the gun control laws. I’ve also discussed how rights such as gun ownership, free speech, and the right to a lawyer cannot be legislated away by a city, state, or federal government. Criminal Fatally Shoots 5 Coworkers at Factory

The shooter, Wesley Neal Higdon, had been reprimanded for talking on his cell phone and not wearing safety glasses. He left work for about half an hour, then returned to kill 5 people and then kill himself. During the shootings, he apparently had time to reload his handgun. Again, we have a tragic shooting where a criminal bent on murder and suicide was the only one armed, and as a result, the law abiding, unarmed people died. Read the rest of this article »

Would-be Home Invader Unintentionally Shoots Himself to Death

Cameron Sands, a 19 year old would-be home invader from Fort Worth managed to fatally shoot himself during an attempted home invasion.

Grand Prairie, TX police say that Cameron Sands kicked in the door of the home he was invading, and then inadvertently shot himself in the stomach while trying to pull the gun out of his waist band. After shooting himself, Sands dropped the gun and ran, but only made it to the driveway before collapsing. He was then found dead in the early morning hours.

Luckily for these home owners, the would-be home invader managed to negligently shoot himself and save them from violent attack by a criminal. Unfortunately, most home owners aren’t that lucky when it comes to home invasion, and would do well to have a gun for self defense.

The NRA is planning to bring Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms lawsuits against cities in Cook County, Illinois, that have handgun bans. These are Chicago, Evanston, Morton Grove, Oak Park, and Wilmette. It is vital that we get these handgun bans repealed, since one need only turn on the news to see how criminals ignore the handgun bans, while law abiding citizens are left defenseless.

Police Shut Down Machine Gun Smuggling Ring

Over 30 guns were seized when the gun smuggling ring was raided, including machine pistols that police say were destined for Canada. I applaud the law enforcement agencies for their excellent work in stopping these criminals. Now if only the politicians would recognize that passing gun control laws will only harm law abiding citizens, since smuggling guns in illegally is how criminals get their weapons.
