As reported, a Sarasota, Florida pharmacist used his gun to stop an armed robber who was threatening a clerk while demanding drugs:
Police say that that robber entered the pharmacy, located on Bee Ridge Road, at about 4:30pm and approached the cashier. The robber reportedly brandished a realistic-looking airgun, then told the cashier that she had 30 seconds to give him some of the narcotic drug oxycodone. The pharmacy’s owner noticed the robbery, grabbed his gun, and fired, striking the robber in the shoulder and ending the attack, police say. The robber’s airgun was reportedly found in the pharmacy’s parking lot, and a suspect was reportedly being questioned by police after seeking treatment for a gunshot wound to the shoulder. None of the customers or employees of the pharmacy were harmed, and this is reportedly the second time that the pharmacy owner has used his gun to stop a robber.
Once again, guns are a valuable self defense tool. Unarmed individuals can suffer a terrible fate when a criminal robs them, even if they fully cooperate with the criminal’s demands. The same is true for those who try to run from the robber.
