Below is an action alert from the NRA. I encourage all gun owners to take a moment of their time to contact their elected officials and voice their opposition to new senseless gun bans.
Help Protect Our Gun Rights
Iowa gun owners are encouraged to come to Second Amendment Day in the Iowa Legislature, on February 23, 2016.
The 2016 legislative session in Iowa has begun, and there are multiple pro-gun bills pending.
From the IFC: After the July 16th murder of four US Marines and one sailor in Chattanooga, Tennessee governors of seven states — Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin — have issued orders that members of their state’s National Guard be armed in the wake of yet another domestic terrorist attack targeting US service members. It’s high time Iowa’s National Guard has their ability to carry restored. Iowa Governor Terry Branstad has right and the ability to re-arm Iowa’s Guardsmen. … Continued
Ruger has created a nice webpage that will allow you to inform the President, Vice-President, your Senators, Representative, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, State-Level Elected Officials, and State Attorney General that you support gun rights and believe that the passage of anti-gun laws is misguided. I encourage everyone to spend a minute doing so. The web page can be seen here. Then, click here to see other steps that you can take to protect our gun rights.
Those opposed to gun rights are attempting to take advantage of the the the Sandy Hook School Shooting and resulting public sentiment to enact anti-gun laws. While those of use who are knowledgeable about firearms know
I’ve previously discussed the importance of avoiding complacency and standing up for our gun rights by joining the NRA, so that American gun rights don’t vanish like British gun rights. I would therefore like to ask that those who are not currently NRA members take a moment to join the NRA. If you’re already an NRA member, then please consider giving an NRA membership as a gift.
I’ve previously discussed the phone poll that is being run in Cook County, IL in order to justify a draconian gun ban. This poll is still active, and you do not need to be a resident of Cook County to take the poll:
As I’ve previously discussed, residents of Illinois who wish to own a gun need to first get a Firearms Owner Identification Card (FOID). The law requires that the FOID be issued within 30 days, however the Illinois State Police have been breaking the law by taking longer than 30 days to issue FOID cards. In this discussion forum thread, more people have reported these wrongful delays that can stretch for weeks or even months. I also see at least a … Continued
As it stands, Illinois is one of only two states that has no law allowing concealed carry. The result is that criminals are armed, while law abiding citizens are defenseless. In the hopes of changing this situation, a petition was started to bring concealed carry to Illinois: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/IllinoisCCW/
I received an email today from a gentleman named Mick, who mentioned a rather serious problem going on in Illinois with respect to FOID card issuance. Mick and several other people he knows have waited over 60 days to get their FOID cards, despite the fact that the law requires the FOID be issued or denied within 30 days. I also personally know of a person whose FOID application has been pending for more than the 30 day waiting period … Continued
The Department of the Interior was preparing to promulgate rules that would allow concealed carry for self defense in national parks. As the NRA reports, rather than closing the comment period as scheduled and moving toward finalizing this federal regulation, U.S. Senator Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii) and U.S. Representative Raul Grijalva (D-Arizona), succeeded in delaying the implementation of the final rule by bullying the Department of the Interior to extend the deadline for comments an additional 30 days. The goal of … Continued

There are a lot of misperceptions, bias, and misinformation out there about guns. This can make even reasonable and intelligent people, who don’t have first hand experience with guns, believe that guns are somehow evil or are the cause of crime. One great way to dispel these myths and let your anti-gun friends decide for themselves is to take them to shooting range. My girlfriend and I recently did that just that, with a co-worker of mine and his wife. … Continued

The ISRA has posted an urgent alert: ” In order to justify passage of gun control ordinances designed to close all gun shops and ban and confiscate most guns owned by citizens of the county, the Cook County Board is conducting a telephone poll where callers can vote for or against the gun control ordinances
There are a variety of ways that we can all do our part to protect gun rights. I have listed a few of these ways below
In recent years, the Cook County, Illinois commissioners have ramped up their efforts to prevent law abiding citizens from possessing firearms
