As reported, a home invader was fatally shot in self defense:
Police say that at about 7:30 PM, a man broke in to a home on the 1300 block of Austin in Wichita Falls, TX. The resident of the home reportedly heard the sound of breaking glass, grabbed his gun, and shot the intruder in self defense. A neighbor is said to have seen the intruder breaking in an called police, who arrived to find a deceased intruder and an unharmed resident. The deceased intruder, whose name has not yet been released, is said to be a 30 year old male who is not from the area.
Home invasions are a deadly threat to the occupants of a house. The criminals who commit such crimes often murder, shoot, stab, torture, kidnap, and permanently injure their victims. The result is that the lives of law abiding, innocent people can be ended or ruined in an instant, all because of a criminal’s desire to take what doesn’t belong to them. Fortunately, this resident was prepared to defend himself, and as a result survived this home invasion unharmed. Society is also a bit safer now, as the intruder will never again victimize another person.
