As reported, a robber entered the Double Down Discount store in Biloxi, MS, armed with a knife. He approached one of the owners and demanded money. A struggle ensued, then the owner’s wife appeared with a gun, and was able to scare the robber off by firing one shot. Police were able to apprehend the alleged robber, Tyrone McCoy, and he is in custody. The owners of the store are uninjured.
Once again, we have a situation where an armed citizen was able to defend themselves and a loved one by using a gun. Had this woman been unarmed, it is unlikely that she would have been able to fend off the attacker – but a gun is the great equalizer, and put her on equal footing with the young male robber. This is just one of the many cases of self defense, and another reason why I support gun rights.
