As reported, a convenience store clerk used his gun to chase off a would-be robber who was armed with a gun:
Police say that at about 7:00PM, a robber, who was dressed in black, armed with a gun, and had a bandanna covering his face, entered the Indian Lakes food Mart in Virginia Beach, VA. The clerk is said to have seen the robber, grabbed his own gun, and fired on shot in self defense. The robber, who is believed to not been injured, then reportedly fled the store, according to news reports. No injuries to the clerk or any bystanders were reported.
Armed robberies are a deadly threat for the employees and patrons of a business. Had this clerk been unarmed, he could have ended up shot like this deli owner, this bakery worker, this man, or this woman, as criminals often shoot even those victims who fully cooperate. Attempting to run away often leaves a robbery victim shot as well, as this man learned. Luckily, this clerk was armed, and as a result was able to defend himself against this violent robbery attempt. As a result, he went home unharmed. Simply put, armed self defense works.
