As reported, a convenience store clerk in Houston, Texas used his gun in self defense against a robber.
Police say that at about 10:30pm, two robbers entered the convenience store while armed with pistols, their faces covered with handkerchiefs. The female store owner is said to have given the robbers the money they demanded, before locking herself inside a bullet-resistant area behind plexiglas. A robbers reportedly then began to chase the store owner’s son, while the other robber was attempting to climb over the plexiglass enclosure to get to the woman. At that point, a clerk in the store is said to have drawn and fired his own gun, striking one robber and sending the other fleeing, according to news reports. Police arrived to find one suspect dead from his injuries, and are seeking the accomplice who fled.
Armed robbery is a dangerous crime that can easily result in an innocent store employee losing their life to a violent criminal who only cares about making a quick buck. The good news is that armed store clerks can and do stop robbers every day, saving themselves and others from violent attacks. Criminals know this fact – if only anti-gun politicians could figure it out too, gun laws might be improved.
