A man in Elizabethtown, Kentucky reportedly used his gun to stop an intruder.
News reports say that on Friday morning, police received a call from a woman who stated that her husband had just shot a burglar who broke into their home. A suspect was reportedly apprehended and taken to a local hospital for treatment, and is expected to survive. According to the the article, police suspect that the individual who was shot may be responsible for other burglaries in the area. No injuries to the homeowners were reported.
Here we have yet another example of armed self defense working. Burglars who encounter homeowners often do terrible things to those homeowners out of a desire to make the victim give up more valuables, or just out a sadistic desire to inflict suffering. Trusting one’s life to the mercy of a person who has already demonstrated a willingness to break into a home is not wise.
Thankfully this husband and wife were armed for self defense, and as a result were unharmed. They may also have helped prevent future burglaries by ensuring the suspect was apprehended.
