Some recent news reports of hate crimes, across the world, underscore the need for armed self defense. Sadly, some supposed civil rights leaders ignore this fact:
- In New York, Jose Suczhanay was reportedly beaten and kicked to death by men who yelled anti-Hispanic and anti-gay slurs.
- In Germany, two neo-Nazi suspect reportedly stabbed police chief Alois Mannichl because of his active role in fighting their hate group.
- In Russia, 7 men were reportedly sentenced to various prison terms for the racially motivated murders of 19 people, using hammers and other weapons.
- In Brazil, an ex-cop has reportedly been detained in connection with the murder of 13 gay people.
Sadly, we live in a world where a small percentage of people are so ignorant and filled with hate that they randomly murder innocent people because of the color of their skin, their country of origin, etc. Wishful thinking is no defense against such violent individuals, as a person who is willing to commit a random murder won’t be very amenable to well reasoned arguments. Neither is calling the police, as the police are minutes away while a person can be beaten to death in a matter of seconds.
The only practical solution that I see is gun ownership, as gun owners are in the best position to defend themselves. These armed African Americans managed to fend off KKK gunmen and defend themselves when there police were unable or unwilling to help. This armed African American was able to defend himself against a bat-wielding racist. Unfortunately, people like Jessie Jackson and Rev. Pfleger just don’t get it, and use guns as a scapegoat to advance their own political agendas.
