As reported, a late morning home invasion attempt reportedly ended with the suspect being shot by the homeowner then apprehended by the police:
Police say that at at about 10:40 AM, a burglar kicked in the front door of a home on the 100 block of Cardinal Lane in Lake City, Florida. The homeowner reportedly grabbed his .38 handgun, at which point the burglar confronted him in the hallway. Fearing for his safety, the homeowner fired one shot in self defense, striking the intruder and sending him fleeing, police say. A suspect, reportedly identified as 18 year old Damien Morgan, was taken to a local hospital for a gunshot wound to the leg, and will face burglary charges after being released from the hospital, according to police. No injuries to the homeowner were reported.
Home invading criminals are a deadly and terrible threat for every man, woman, and child in the residence. Victims of home invasion all too often suffer torture, rape, kidnapping, and murder at the hands of criminals who care more about a few dollars than human life.
The good news is that gun owners like this man can, and do, stop such criminals every day. Gun ownership saved this homeowner, and led to a suspect being swiftly apprehended and charged by police.
