As reported, an armed apartment resident used his gun to stop a violent home invader:
Police say that just before 7:00pm, a man broke in to an apartment on the 500 block of SW Tyler in Topeka, KS, and demanded money from the resident. After the intruder attempted to fight with the resident, the resident is said to have fired his gun in self defense, striking the intruder and ending the home invasion. A suspect, reportedly identified as 28 year old Reuel Bridges of Topeka, KS, was later pronounced dead at a local hospital, according to news reports.
Home invasions are a deadly threat to the occupants of a home. The criminals who commit such crimes often murder, shoot, stab, torture, kidnap, and permanently injure their victims. The result is that the lives of law abiding, innocent people can be ended or ruined in an instant, all because of a criminal’s desire to make a quick buck. Fortunately, this homeowner was prepared to defend himself.
