In the wake of the tragic NIU Shooting, the Illinois Legislature has passed legislation which would allow campus police to carry firearms.
I believe this is a step in the right direction, however campus police can’t be in every classroom, dorm room, and study room at all times. For that reason I believe the proper legislative response to school shootings is to grant law abiding students the right to carry a concealed firearm, which has been demonstrated effective against school shooters.
