As the Sun Times reports, a man armed with a knife stormed a police station in Shanghai, China on Tuesday, stabbing 9 officers inside and killing at least five – all without a gun.
The person accused of the stabbings, Yang, stated he was seeking revenge after officers at the station in Shanghai’s Zhabei district investigated him last year for allegedly stealing bicycles, police said.
This act by a murderous criminal further shows the point that people who wish to commit crimes will do so, whether they have a gun or not. Whether they choose to use a gun, a car, a nailgun, or just about any other everyday object, a determined criminal will commit their crime.
This tragedy also shows the need for law abiding citizens (including the police) to have guns for self defense. Sadly, these police officers appear to have been unarmed, which would explain why the criminal was able to stab so many of them before he was subdued and placed under arrest.
