Barack Obama is steadily filling positions in his new administration with politicians who are opposed to gun rights. The latest is Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano, who will head the Department of Homeland Security.
- Janet Napolitano’s anti gun rights history includes vetoing Arizona House Bill 2629 (HB2629), which would have allowed a law abiding citizen to defensively display a firearm when confronted by a criminal.
- Janet Napolitano also vetoed Arizona Senate Bill 1106 (SB1106), which would have made concealed carry permits valid for the lifetime of the holder. This would have reduced the potential for governmental abuses of gun rights.
As a law abiding gun owner, I am deeply concerned by the harm to our gun rights that Obama’s anti gun administration is poised to inflict. Obama is anti gun, as is Joe Biden. Obama/Biden was endorsed by the leading gun control group, the Brady Campaign. They were also endorsed by the fake gun rights group, the American Hunters and Shooters Association. People like Richard Pearson, who have known Obama for years, know that he is ardently anti gun as well.
The upside to having Napolitano as HS Chief is that us Arizonans can be rid of her. Jan Brewer is next in line to the Governorship and she is definitely more pro-gun than Napolitano or Jane Hull (the previous Republican governor.)
Perhaps then AZ will allow college carry, restaurant carry, and lower the age of CC permit applicants.
