As reported 62 year old Florida middle school teacher Juanita Enzor fatally shot a home invader. Mark Johnson, who was convicted of multiple felonies in 2007, reportedly broke in to Juanita Enzor’s home at about 5 AM and attacked her. She then fired one shot in self defense, which eventually proved fatal to the home invader.
As reported, a University of Arizona student was in his off-campus guest house apartment around midnight, when there was a knock at the door. One of the two men at the door asked for someone who did not live there, an the other had a gun.

As reported, Thomas Thompson alleged broke into a Vero Beach, FL home on 74th Avenue, by prying open the front window and popping out the screen. Once inside, police say Thomspon used two knives to threaten a mother of 2, Joanne Hornsby, who was laying in her bed. She screamed, and her sons, Austin and Roger, ages 19 and 20, rushed to their mother’s aid. The youngest son, Austin, pulled out a shotgun and killed the armed home invader in self defense and defense of his mother.
As reported by KCRA3, a homeowner who feared for the safety of himself and his family used a shotgun to kill an attempted home invader in Sacramento, CA, police said.
As Fox News reports, an 85 year old woman from Point Mariod, PA was at home when a burglar broke in to her home at about 3pm. Leda Smith went to her bedroom, got her handgun, and held the 17 year old male intruder at gunpoint. She then made him pick up the phone and call the police, who arrived and arrested him.
As CNN reports, Houston police said three or four people broke into a home in the 10000 block of Foy Lane. The suspects were armed with guns, and at some point in the robbery they shot the home owner, who then managed to get a gun and return fire. One home invader was killed and another was injured. The home owner is expected to recover from his injuries.
As the Wednesday Journal reports, a highly intoxicated man who jumped out of a car on Austin Boulevard hurling racial slurs and swinging a bat was shot by one of his would-be victims. This is particularly interesting because it happened right on the border of Oak Park and Chicago, which both ban handguns, and in the state of Illinois, which bans concealed carry:
As the Sun Herald reports, an 84 year old Mississippi man used his handgun to stop a home invader. The elderly man was at home with his 74-year-old wife, at about 5 a.m. at their residence in the area of Adams Street, in Bayside Park. Hancock County Sheriff’s Investigator Andre Fizer said the couple heard a noise as an alleged criminal tried to break through the front door, then tried to enter through a back door, and also through a rear window of the residence. As he grew weaker trying to hold off the intruder at the back door, the resident asked his wife to bring his .45 caliber Colt handgun. He fired one shot through a lower panel of the door, wounding the alleged home invader, Wade Ledesma.

As KCCI Channel 8 reported, James Spiers, a Pizza Hut driver who had a concealed handgun permit, lawfully carried his concealed weapon while making a delivery. The driver was attacked by an armed criminal and fired his gun in self defense, saving his life and injuring the robber (who is now in jail). Pizza hut first suspended, then fired this law abiding citizen who used his lawfully carried gun to defend himself. Why? Because Pizza Hut has a policy against allowing its employees to lawfully defend themselves.
