Concealed Carry at my Law Firm – and the Backlash from a Judge

For 4 years, my law firm has offered employees a $50/month bonus if they choose to take the training to obtain their permit to carry, lawfully obtain that permit, and lawfully carry at the office.  I mentioned that bonus in passing a couple years ago.   On March 17, 2015, a boyfriend of a (still unidentified) former employee apparently mentioned that to a morning talk radio show that was discussing things employees could do to earn some extra money while at work. … Continued

Lets All Do Our Part to Support Gun Rights

As is readily apparent, those opposed to gun rights are  making full use of the the the Sandy Hook School Shooting and resulting public sentiment to enact pointless and wrongful anti-gun laws.  Now is the time for supporters of gun rights to take action.  That action should be at both the individual and group levels:

(Almost) the Right Response to a Tragedy

Motivated in part by the assassination attempt on Gabrielle Giffords, the Texas legislator is considering a bill that would grant expanded concealed carry rights to certain state officials.  While this is a far better reaction than those that historically follow a high profile gun-related crime, it still leaves much to be desired:

My Response to the NYT’s “More States Allowing Guns in Bars”

Earlier this month, Malcolm Gay’s article entitled “More States Allowing Guns in Bars” appeared in the New York Times.  The article, while not as outrageously anti-gun as some other articles, takes a dim view of concealed carry, and engages in unfounded fear mongering of the type that is all too common.  Quotes from that article, and my responses, can be seen below:

Armed Jamaican Citizen Stops an Armed Robber

As I’ve previously noted, I primarily write about armed self defense cases in the United States. This is because I’m an American, who focuses first and foremost on American gun and self defense rights. However, I also like to occasionally discuss armed self defense cases from around the world, such as this recent case from Jamaica:

Armed Husband and Wife Save a Woman from Domestic Violence

As reported, a husband and wife, who each have a concealed carry permit, used their self defense guns to save a woman from a domestic violence attack. Police say that a husband and wife pulled into a Wadsworth, Ohio McDonald’s, located on High Street, and noticed a man beating a woman in another vehicle.  Fearing for that woman’s safety, the couple reportedly drew their guns and ordered the man to stop his attack, at which point he fled on foot.  … Continued
