As reported, the owner of an Albuquerque, New Mexico coin shop used his gun to stop at least two people who were committing a violent robbery.
Police say that at about 3:00pm, at least two robbers entered Jim Coad Rare Coins, located on the 3100 block of Eubanke NE, and attacked the owner with a blunt object. The store owner reportedly fired his gun in self defense, striking one of the robbers and sending the other(s) fleeing. A suspect was reportedly dropped off at a nearby hospital, with stolen gold coins and bars falling out of his pocket, and later died of his injuries. Police are seeking the remaining suspect(s).
Robbery is a dangerous violent crime that can result in great harm to a victim. That is true whether the robbery is taking place in a business or out on the street. Fortunately, gun ownership allows a person to be in the best position possible to defend themselves against such a violent attack. This deli owner was able to save himself and his wife from an armed robber too. I could on and on with more examples, but the point should be clear – armed self defense works.
